Getting to Flinders Island can be part of the fun of an enjoyable holiday. There are several ways.
Your visit to Flinders Island starts with a scenic flight from Melbourne (Moorabbin Airport) or from Launceston across Bass Strait with Tasmania's own airline, Airlines of Tasmania. It's a wonderful experience flying first across the coastline spread out like a long ribbon of waves and beaches then over the many islands dotted along the way.

Regular air services from Essenden and Launceston with Airlines of Tasmania.
Charter flights from Melbourne, Tooradin, Gippsland in Victoria, and Bridport, in Tasmania or any other airport of the customer's choice.
Charter flights can enter Flinders Island at Whitemark or Lady Barron airports.
By ferry service from Bridport in Tasmania and docking in Lady Barron runs one a week.
Getting around Flinders Island
For many Flinders Island is bigger than is expected at almost 70 kilometers long and 40 wide there is a network of more than 450 km or road to explore.
For visitors who would like independence and the freedom to explore Flinders at their liesure rental vehicles are available from the two Hire Car companies on the Island.Your holiday begins when you step off your Airlines of Tasmania flight and the rental car is waiting. Go as you please, do as you please and at the end of your stay, drop the rental car at the airport as you depart.
A local taxi service operates day and night but there is no public transport on the Island.
For the more adventurous freighting your bicycle by plane or ferry is an option to consider or let your legs do the walking.
Allow plenty or time for walking or cycling around the Island and do take into account the weather conditions around the time you wish to visit.
Ferrying your own vehicle on the Matthews Flinders a roll on roll off ferry departing from Briport, in Tasmania is another option.
